Mended Women Lifestyle Recovery (MWLR) is a 70 bed residential recovery program serving women in Abingdon, Virginia.
Founded in 2021 through the vision of a dedicated group of volunteers calling themselves the Women’s Housing Coalition, the Appalachian Substance Abuse Coalition (ASAC) and Fairview Housing, MWLR is the only ASAM 3.1 clinically managed low-intensity residential substance abuse program designed specifically for women within 150 miles of our Southwest Virginia campus.
Program participants receive evidence-based treatment-oriented protocols and services from a broad range of support from caring professionals. Residents receive quality nutritious meals, sleep in a safety-monitored room with 24-hour staff support in a supportive community environment designed for healing and recovery—all with a touch of mountain determination and TLC that is the spirit of our region.
Our goal is that every one of our friends, neighbors and family members who enroll at Mended Women one day graduates the program better equipped to successfully navigate lifelong recovery with the skills and healing necessary to reclaim life of purpose and joy.
The Mended Women project is the direct result of Fairview Housing’s longtime participation in the Appalachian Substance Abuse Coalition, The WellSpring Foundation, The GENAN Foundation and public funding of Virginia city and state government.
Mended Women Lifestyle Recovery is a program of Fairview Housing, a 501c-3 not-for-profit organization serving the Appalachian Highlands of Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee since 1971.
